We had the incredible opportunity to receive education and training from the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM), in collaboration with the Association of Ambulance Professionals Uganda (AAPU), who were engaged to deliver the training. Much appreciation to Dr. Nyeko David, our
Deputy Scientific Director, Dr. Charlotte and her team from RCEM, and the entire AAPU trainer team.
Through the WHO- Basic Emergency Care (BEC) Course, our clinical healthcare workers gained new confidence and lifesaving skills in assessing and managing emergencies using the A–B–C–D–E approach.
Meanwhile, our dedicated ambulance drivers and support crew completed an intensive Emergency Motor Vehicle Short Course, tailored to the unique needs of our hospital.
They trained in:
- Ambulance maintenance and safety
- Communication and coordination during emergencies
- Professionalism and patient care on the move
- Legal responsibilities and rights of ambulance drivers in Uganda
- Safe patient loading, offloading, and transfer techniques
The five days of hands-on learning have truly strengthened our emergency response system, giving our teams the knowledge, skills, and confidence to save lives every day.
