On 26th March 2026, St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor had the honor of hosting a delegation from Unilever led by Mr. Ben Langat, Unilever’s General Manager for East and West Africa. This visit is part of Unilever’s commitment to building healthier communities throughout Uganda. It brought together representatives from across Africa and the world, including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Singapore, reflecting a shared commitment to improving community health and wellbeing.

During the visit, they donated a wide range of essential medical equipment and supplies valued at UGX 118,225,481.54.
The donation included:
- Critical care equipment, such as a CPAP machine, patient monitors, and suction machines
- Hospital beds, mattresses, and blankets
- Oxygen cylinders and flowmeters
- Personal protective equipment, including gowns, face shields, and coveralls
These items will significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide quality care, particularly in emergency and critical care services, while also strengthening infection prevention and control measures.
Demonstration of Unilever’s hygienic products: OMO, OMO Bleach, and Vim to staff and patients
Beyond the donation, the visit featured interactive sessions between the Unilever team and hospital staff and patients. Demonstrations were conducted on the effective use of hygiene and cleaning products, emphasizing best practices in maintaining a safe and clean healthcare environment.
A meaningful exchange between Mr. Odong and Mr. Langat
In his remarks, the Medical Director of St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor expressed heartfelt gratitude to Unilever for their generous support.
He noted that the donated equipment comes at a crucial time and will greatly enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver quality healthcare services. He further emphasized the importance of strong partnerships in addressing healthcare challenges and called for continued collaboration.
He also highlighted the need for proper utilization and maintenance of the donated equipment, as well as follow-up engagements to assess the impact of such contributions.
