Today, the circle of compassion continues as we welcome new cohorts of student nurses, midwives, theatre assistants, and laboratory technicians across both certificate and diploma levels.
This orientation is designed to spark purpose, pride, and belonging in students, give them a meaningful introduction to the hospital’s values and legacy, helping them see not just where they are, but why they’re here.
At the orientation ceremony held in the school’s main assembly hall, the Medical Director took the students on a reflective journey through the hospital’s history.
“This hospital was founded in 1959 by Mgr. G.B. Cesana, a Comboni Catholic Missionary and Bishop of Gulu. In 1961, its stewardship was entrusted to Dr. Corti. From the beginning, it has stood on a foundation of love for humanity—especially for those most in need,” he said.
“So, as you begin your journey here, know that you are not merely joining an institution. You are stepping into a legacy of care—a walk of love carried forward for more than six decades. This mission is yours now, too. Embrace it fully.”
He also emphasized the importance of discipline and mutual respect, noting that indiscipline would not be tolerated within the school or hospital environment.
”Love your school. Make it your home. Carry yourselves with dignity and compassion as you grow into the healers this world needs.”
The orientation also included school tours, group bonding sessions, and introductions to academic and clinical staff, helping students feel grounded and supported from day one.
So far, 150 students have reported, and more are expected to join in the coming days. Each new arrival adds to the community of future healthcare professionals who will carry forward a mission of love and service.
