Sweeping with Gratitude: Alokolum Women Honor Lacor Hospital Ahead of International Women’s Day

As the world gears up to celebrate International Women’s Day, we were privileged to welcome 25 inspiring mothers and women from Alokolum, led by Atoo Eveline Ocen, Local Council Four of Bardege-Layibi City Division, to our hospital.

Accompanied by Kifola Susan, Chairperson of the Women’s Council, and Ayella Jimmy, the Youth Councilor of Bardege-Layibi, the women came with a mission: to give back to the hospital that tirelessly serves their community.

Their gratitude was simple yet profound—sweeping and cleaning the hospital grounds. As they worked together, their laughter and unity were a message of appreciation that starts with small and meaningful actions.

“However small our contribution may seem, it comes from the bottom of our hearts,” shared Atoo Everline Ocen. “This hospital serves mothers and children with dedication, and today, we say thank you in our way.”

For Kifola Susan, the visit was more than just a cleaning exercise. “This is how we teach the younger generation the importance of gratitude and community,” she explained. “We want them to understand the value of standing together and supporting the institutions that care for us.”

Ayella Jimmy, the youth counselor, added a touching perspective. “As we sweep, we honor the unsung heroes of this hospital—those who have worked tirelessly to make our world a better place. Cleanliness and hygiene are the foundation of health, and today, we pay tribute to their efforts.”

The Alokolum women’s visit is a beautiful reminder that gratitude doesn’t always require grand gestures. Sometimes, it’s the simple acts of love, respect, and community spirit that leave the deepest impact.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let’s take a page from their book and find ways to give back to the places and people who make a difference in our lives. After all, it’s these small acts of kindness that build a better, healthier, and more connected world.
